OI Conference- July 13-15, 2012

The OI Conference is July 13-15, 2012 in Washington, DC. That means in less than 5 months, so many of my OI friends will be meeting each other or reuniting with each other. I’ve read stories and reviews from conference but I’ve never been!

I’ll be honest, I was ecstatic at the prospect of attending. But, the cost is astronomical! When you add up food not provided by the conference fee,  transportation $120, $350 for registration (That’s for two early bird registrations at $175 a piece.), $320ish for hotels, plus parking… well we’re looking at an almost $1,000 trip. I don’t know about you but I don’t have funds like that floating around. I wish I did, I’d register myself and my Dad in a heartbeat. I have until April to determine if I’m actually going. I did reserve a room, just in case.

Sandy and I were/are already scheming up some pretty cool ways to keep non-attendees in the know during the conference. I can’t share those ideas just yet, but it’ll be incredibly unique if it comes to fruition.

A year and half ago when I started this blog, I had dreams of grandeur of the blog being an internet phenomenon and generating enough funds that I could host an OI social on Friday Night of the 2012 conference. (A little early birthday party for myself and the blog). Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen this year maybe in 2014.

Have you been to conference? Is it “worth” attending? Will you be attending this year?

If you’re interested in learning more about the convention check out the OIF page, HERE.

Ready to register for the conference? Click, HERE.

Money a little tight? But you still want to attend? Click, HERE for some money saving options.

I promise, as soon as I’ve made an official decision on my own attendance… I’ll announce it!

PS. I’m by no means berating the Foundation for the cost of the convention.  I’ve planned enough of large scale events for my current job that I know how much things cost. I just hoped to attend.

I hear ya on the costs… If you do go – I can’t wait to see what you have in mind to keep us all up to date on what’s going on!

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one that thinks it’s expensive. Maybe I should do a fundraiser for my own registration….
